Columbia University alumna and renowned artist, Joan Jonas, invites viewers to contemplate and explore oceanic environments through this excerpt from her series Moving Off the Land II. These original smaller scale drawings of oceanic fish were scaled and printed on a nautical-like material using Laumont’s UV printer. The prints are installed as banners that float above students and visitors entering the Lenfest Center of the Arts on Columbia’s campus in Manhattan. Noah Trapolino’s pen and ink drawings, created for a limited edition tarot card deck, transformed into special edition large scale archival pigment prints in collaboration with Laumont. Stephen Shore’s new book, “Early Work” is a collection of black and white New York street photographs he captured as a teen between 12 and 17 years old. Many of the photos he has “no recollection of taking”, and was astonished at the shots once his studio manger urged him to take a look. Almost all previously unpublished, this collection shot between 1960 and 1965 with a handheld 35 millimeter camera, features NYC street scenes, lovers on park benches, children gathered on stoops, and moments at Andy Warhol’s Factory. “I thought they were amazing . . . It puts me in this awkward position of talking about my work in the third person and saying it’s amazing,” said Shore to NYT reporter Arthur Lubow. Catch Ed Atkins show at @tate #TateBritian London until August 25th. From Parkett: "The epidermis of the head and neck of the artist’s most recent digital surrogate— made real and human-scaled. Used in his video, Safe Conduct, this epidermis of the artist’s surrogate has been carefully bespoke-bruised, battered— flecked and streaked with grime, tears, exposure. Printed on rubber, the surrogacy of the artist’s digital figure becomes that of a mask." @parkettart @edatkinsdiet
This original 62" @damienhirst piece was scanned at 300DPI at the same size as the artwork for the owner's archive. The scanner lights are raised above the frame and focused on the artwork behind the plexiglass. No reflection is caught in the scan file! Maira Kalman, artist, illustrator, writer and self proclaimed murder mystery fan, created original drawings for the opening credits of Netflix’s new series titled “The Residence”. Each of the eight episodes opens with a unique piece of art by Kalman illustrating characters and symbols that may or may not be clues to the whodunit. Pictured above are the scans of the original drawings for the 1st and 4th episodes. The original drawings were scanned using our flatbed Cruse scanner and prepared for streaming at Laumont!
