C.R. Richardson photographs on display at the U.S. Navy Memorial

Laumont recently worked with New York based photographer C.R. Richardson to produce 12 pigment prints, which were included in the 11th Annual Patriot Day celebration at the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington D.C.  Following a wreath laying ceremony to remember the fallen victims and military heroes of the September 11th attacks, an exhibit featuring photographs of the USS New York (LPD-21) was opened to the public.

The USS New York (LPD-21) is a naval ship that was forged with steel from the World Trade Center towers. The 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks marked the ship’s grand entry into its namesake city, and Richardson was present to capture the event. Her photographs on display at the Memorial range from dramatic compositions of the ship and views of New York City from aboard, to candid shots of the crew and first responders that were present during the voyage. An online version of the exhibit is available to view via the U.S Navy Memorial’s website. C.R. Richardson’s photographs will be on display in the Naval Heritage Center at the U.S. Navy Memorial until November 30, 2012.
