Henry Leutwyler book signing today, November 27th; Exhibition on view until January 6, 2013

Henry Leutwyler's exhibition "Ballet" on view from November 28, 2012 through January 6, 2013 at Foley Gallery in NYC.

Michael Foley Gallery is pleased to present Ballet, a photographic exploration of the New York City Ballet through the lens of Henry Leutwyler.  Opening on November 28th, the exhibition provides behind-the-curtain insight of the prestigious dance company.

“Using his 35mm Leica, he explored the performers’ personal space and produced honest, unguarded moments of more than 80 dancers from the company. From classes, to rehearsals, to the moment when the curtain rises, Leutwyler’s images reveal details of the ballet that few of us have been granted the opportunity to see.”

“Henry’s images depict a more atmospheric, and in some cases abstract portrayal of our world.  One that is experienced first-hand by a rare few.” – Peter Martins, Ballet Master in Chief

Henry Leutwyler will be present this evening at Dashwood Books to sign copies of his latest release, "Ballet".

Coinciding with the exhibition is the release of Leutwyler’s book Ballet.  Launched by Steidl on November 15th, the publication contains over 270 photographs amidst 488-pages.  Leutwyler will conduct a book signing for Ballet this evening from 6 to 8pm at Dashwood Books, located at 33 Bond Street in Manhattan.

Ballet will be on view from November 28, 2012 through January 6, 2013 at Michael Foley Gallery.  The opening reception will take place from 6pm to 8pm on November 28th at the Lower East Side gallery, located at 97 Allen St.

Laumont would like to congratulate Henry Leutwyler on behalf of his exhibition and the release of Ballet.  We would also like to express our gratitude for our involvement with printing and framing the presentation at Michael Foley Gallery.
