“Julie Blackmon: Day Tripping” on view at Robert Mann Gallery

A solo exhibition of recent work by Julie Blackmon opened on November 1st at Robert Mann Gallery.  The artist debuted six unseen photographs alongside images created within the past two years.  Julie Blackmon: Day Tripping is her second solo show with the gallery.

Through a complex process involving models, a highly staged set and carefully composed tableaux, Blackmon weaves intricate stories of the complexities of everyday life in large and busy households.

Blackmon is revered as one of the most exciting photographers working today.  She was named American Photo’s “Emerging Photographer of 2008” and one of PDN’s “30 New and Emerging Photographers” in 2007.  The artist has been the recipient of various awards, and her work is included in numerous museums and public collections.

Julie Blackmon: Day Tripping will be on view at Robert Mann until January 12, 2013.  The gallery is located on the second floor at 525 West 26th Street in Chelsea.
