Our Fine Art Cruse Scanner has a 48×72″ scanning bed equipped with a vacuum board to hold your art in place during the scanning process. The artwork lays on its back so nothing ever touches the surface. Artworks larger than 48×72″ can be scanned in sections and seamlessly stitched by our Retouching department.
We can scan artwork that is framed, stretched or mounted by moving the lights up while refocusing on the surface of the artwork. Our technician measures the distance that the framed, stretched or mounted work is off the scanning bed, then checks the distance of the original artwork. Those measurements are used to adjust the light up and out of the way to then refocus to the surface of the artwork, effectively through the glass. Some framed artworks are recommended to be taken out of the frame on a case-by-case basis.
The Fine Art Cruse Scanner has two scanning modes: (L+R) for non-texture, and (LTx) for texture such as the paper collage seen to the right.
(L+R) mode will minimize any texture in the artwork including the artwork’s media.
(LTx) mode will capture all texture in the artwork such as brush strokes, canvas weave, and paper texture to name a few.
