At this year’s IFPDA Print Fair, American sculptor, Alyson Shotz previewed her newest print edition with Carolina Nitsch Gallery titled “Pressure, 2026”.
Shotz, known for her large scale sculptural work, worked with our UV Printing and Mounting departments to create the illusion of a 3D crumpled metallic paper on a 2D surface. The nature of the aluminum surface catches the light as the viewer moves around the piece creating a dynamic viewing experience depending on the environment in which the print is displayed.

The museum boxes were produced using aluminum tubing attached around the perimeter of the back of a sheet of anodized brushed aluminum cut to size. Because of the abstract nature of the imagery, Shotz and Nitsch decided on a custom hanging system which would allow the collector to display the print both vertically and horizontally.
Once the aluminum box was constructed, it was then transferred to the UV Printing department and set up by our printing tech on our SwissQ Impala UV printer’s flatbed. The tech tapes off the sides of the aluminum box to keep the sides pristine during the printing process. The finalized digital print file is then printed directly to the aluminum surface and simultaneously cured by a UV light from the print head.
Each edition print is then quality checked and wrapped in protective foam to prevent damage while transporting to the gallery.
IFPDA was established in 1987 and is the only vetted international membership organization for dealers, publishers, and galleries specializing in prints, editions and drawings.
