Rene Balcer’s first solo exhibition in Ningbo, China “Gazing Into the Mirror” featured in the February issue of ImageInk Digital Photography Magazine.
“Gazing” is composed of over 50x images UV printed direct to Dibond and displayed using a custom aluminum c-cleat hanging system. Translated from Mandarin, Rene speaks about his photography process, “I tried to capture images with hidden narratives, and what the hidden story is, depends on the audience.” Many of the images in the show are photographs taken over the course of 25 years when Balcer lived in and visited China. Other images include palm trees and street scenes from California.
The prints premiered in Ningbo, China in December 2025 and will travel to Chengdu for viewing between April and June 2026.
